The default is nothing
Load this site and read every page, and — if you decline or ignore our banner — not a single cookie is written to your device. There is no "strictly necessary" cookie here, because the site genuinely does not need one: no form, no login, no basket, no session.
Your choice itself is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, so that declining leaves nothing behind. That entry is never sent to our server; it only tells this site not to ask you again on this browser.
What you are agreeing to if you accept
That is the entire list. We do not set advertising, personalisation, or social media cookies, and there are no third-party trackers on this site beyond the analytics you explicitly allow.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one browser from another so a visit is not counted twice | 2 years |
| _ga_<container> | Google Analytics | Keeps session state for the same purpose | 2 years |
How we have configured analytics
- IP anonymisation is on — your address is truncated before Google stores it.
- Google Signals is off, so your visit is not joined to an advertising profile or tracked across devices.
- Ad personalisation signals are off.
- Google Consent Mode is set to deny advertising and personalisation storage outright, not merely to leave it unrequested.
- The analytics script is not fetched at all until you accept — declining means the request to Google never happens.
Changing your mind
Use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of any page. Choosing to decline after having accepted also deletes the analytics cookies already on your device — an opt-out that left the identifiers in place would not be much of an opt-out.
You can also clear cookies and site data for this domain in your browser settings, which resets everything including your stored choice.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because nothing loads without an explicit opt-in, a DNT or GPC signal from your browser reaches a site that was not going to track you anyway. If you have GPC enabled and later accept analytics, we treat your explicit acceptance as the more specific instruction.
